Papertrey Playhouse Challenge #4

Meredith is hosting the challenge this time around over at the Papertrey Playhouse, and it's all about making a card with No Layers!! I love the challenge of making single layer cards!! Besides being super easy to make in most cases, they are also flat which makes mailing them quiet easy as well. Can't beat that if you ask me. Anyway, on to the card...
I broke out my brand-spankin new Snowflake Serenade stamp set (Papertrey Ink) for this one. I know the stamp set has been around for a while, I have only just added it to my arsinal of stamps within the last month and it had been begging me to be used. Now that I am in the deep end when it comes to making my holiday cards, I figured this would be a great time to break this set out!! Here is a closer shot of the stamping...
I did lightly draw the box with a pencil (after carefully measuring) then I masked it off using some post-it's. Then I stamped away using Soft Pool ink by Memories. I added some glitter touches too with my Spica glitter pen, but that doesn't show up very well (sorry!!). Then I just took my trusty black American Crafts pen and my sturdy ruler to outline the box, erase my pencil marks, and viola...a super simple, one layer, ready to be mailed off to some lucky recipient card. (Can you tell I've been taking Shimelle's True Stories class since I have been writing more and more when I post my creations?? Love the class and I can't wait for Journal Your Christmas to start!! I digress...)

Coming up this week, I will continue to play along with Kristina Werner as she enters her second week of her 2010 Holiday Card series (I will be a day behind in posting). I know this isn't a challenge from her, but I am really loving that I am knocking out a lot of my holiday cards. And I don't like mass producing one card...I want variety so I can pick that special one for each of my friends and family members. I am trying to change them up a little...using my own supplies and using it as more of a design sketch. I am also planning to share my die storage (ala Dawn McVey) and some button storage too (totally inspired by Mish Wooderson). My hubby and I are going to the antique shops today and hopefully we will return with some great finds. Last time we went out with my parents at the beginning of October I picked up some Blue Ball jars, some loaf pans (hint hint) and two floral frogs...all for under $40!! Now that I think of it, I don't think I ever posted those great finds...so on that note...here they are...
Not the greatest picture I know. Anyway...off to get Monday started!!! Thanks for stopping by!!
