June Blog Hop

It's that time of the month again...time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. This month it's all about color and using the many different colors in the Papertrey spectrum to create a fun project. I had fun with this one, using some new products from the last release and picking out my colors! So here's the colors I've used as inspired by Dawn McVey's color scheme for the Senior Design Team Challenge in March:

I did make one change - I used Rustic Cream instead of Fresh Snow, otherwise this was my color choice.  Oh and I did use Raspberry Fizz ink to stamp that sentiment because it matched better on the Aqua Mist Cardstock. So I guess I did change up the color scheme a bit, but this was my base scheme..ha! Not normal colors for me to pair together none-the-less. Anyhow, here's what I came up with:

Lots of fun stuff going on here, while also trying to keep it simple and visually pleasing to my eye. Here's a close up:

Oh and one last thing, if you're at all interested in the rolled fabric flower like I created for this card, this is by far the best tutorial I have seen yet. Rhonna Farrer does a great job really explaining how to make various fabric flowers (and fyi...the rolled flowers are up first in the video).

Have fun hopping along to all the blogs!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Reader's Choice Color Inspiration #4

Well, I am back with another on of Kristina Werner's Reader's Choice Color Challenges. This one was a bit of a challenge for me - not colors I am used to working with. But I tried to make something fun and since I am in need of a gender neutral baby card, I figured I would try to work it out. So here's what I came up with. Sorry about the bad photo quality!

Crepe paper is my newest love! Thanks for stopping by today!

Reader's Choice Color Inspiration Challenge #3

It's time for another CI challenge over at Kristina Werner's blog. I knew I would be taking part in this challenge because I LOVE this color combo. This was my sister's wedding combo a few years back!! Then I started creating...and I have four projects to share using this combo. I am pretty sure I have another one in me using some old Making Memories paper...but I had to cut myself off at four. I figured that was enough...for now I suppose. Once I get a project idea in my mind I've got to get it out...so don't be suprised if another project using this combo comes soon. Anyway, on to the projects I did make.  Oh, and I'll have supply lists at the end of the post for all four projects.

The first is a notepad inspired by Michelle Wooderson. I love the Papertrey Ink notepads, and at $6 for 10 it's a great deal, especially if you're a list maker like me. I have a bunch of notepads already covered, and a supply over notepads waiting for their special cover. This has to be one of my favorite PTI sets!!

I used two of Papertey's Vintage cream notepads (they have Dark Chocolate lines...how perfect). I took the cardboard backer off of the top notepad and attached it to the bottom pad with some score tape and a small strip of vintage cream cardstock (pretty much the way Nichole Heady explains here). Then I just cut my cardstock to size and decorated the cover. I had colored the butterflies a while ago with some Copics, and thought they went perfectly.

Then I moved onto a few cards...because I couldn't stop once I got started. Here's the first one I made...and I think it's my favorite of the bunch.

Made this card using another of my favorite PTI sets, A Little Argyle. I am loving how this one turned out. I used some fun cabbage rose ribbon and my Copics again (to color those little flowers). While this was a bit time consuming (stamping those diamonds individually) once I get going, it comes together pretty quickly. Love how this one turned out...just like I saw it in my mind!!

And then, I made this one...

I used my Hero Art's Hydrangea stamp, Copics, and some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist on the shipping tag. Paired up with an elegant sentiment from PTI's Damask Designs, and I've got a very versatile card for any occasion.

And it didn't end there...here's the last one I put together.

It's a very simple card compared to the other's, but I just couldn't wait to break out my Fancy Flourish PTI stamp set that I just received with my latest order. Again, very simple, but I think it's elegant too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Margie Romney-Aslett

I had the awsome pleasure of taking two classes this past Saturday with the fabulous Margie Romney-Aslett! They were called Top 5 and All Good Tag Mini Album. I didn't get to take her On Holiday class, but I was able to buy the last kit...now I just need to email her for instructions! This mini book looked so cute, but my husband would not have been too happy with me if I spent the whole day in classes...not sure why...but I left it at two. Had tons of fun and learned new techniques. Let's just say...who knew you could make a mini album out of an office file folder??

I am still working on finishing up my All Good Tag Mini Album (getting all the photos and such in it), but here are the photos of my Top 5...so cute and love having it hanging in my studio!!

I think I might eventually punch a hole in the upper left corner and make this into a little mini book, bit for now I like it hanging out for everyone to see. I'll be adding in some journaling on the back since these are front sided only.

If you ever have the opportunity to take a class with Margie, I highly recommend it. These classes were very fun and she's a really great lady!!
