Reader's Choice CI #2 - Take 2

So I decided to give this color inspiration challenge another go and kept it pretty darn simple this time. I think the entire card only took me about 10 minutes to complete (and 8 of those minutes were spent choosing the perfect papers). I used some new Girls' Paperie pattern papers, new My Mind's Eye pattern papers, and an old patterned paper from Fancy Pants. Then when looking through my drawer of chipboard letters, I stumbled upon a box of K & Co Berry Sweet chipboard  goodness, which gave me the perfect small heart embellishment. Combined all of this with my 3/4 inch square punch, some blue Doodlebug letter stickers, and I've got a super simple, but super cute (I think anyways) card...

Reader's Choice Color Inspiration #2

Have you ever had this great idea for a card, only to get it out onto paper and have it not be so great afterall?? That was me when I made my first card for this challenge. I've already tossed it because it really was pretty bad...but it looked soooo good in my head. Maybe I'll attempt that card design again someday, but for now, I moved onto plan b. The colors of this challenge are not colors I work with all the time. But go check out Kristina's blog for the challenge and the fabulousness that's been created so far. Here is the card I made for this challenge....which was very much a challenge for me!!

the one about the papertrey ink blog hop

It's blog hop time again and this month the focus is felt!! I was a bit excited about this one even though I have been hoarding my felt lately! I just am worried that I'll use it all up at once! So here's the simple card I made with some Papertrey Ink felt and Felt on the Fly felt...

I wanted to keep it pretty simple. I got some use out of my new Mat Stack Die #2 and the Large Beautiful Blooms #2 Die, plus I used some new yummy Simply Chartreuce buttons and stitched ribbon. Oh and I can't forget the great sentiment from my new Year of Flowers: Lily of the Valley stamp set.  Have fun hopping around the PTI blog hop tonight!!

BUM III

This is the newest addition to our family, Bum III. Yep, his name is Bum the third.

I've been waiting since I was 8 years old to have another "bum" cat! My parent's had a black and white tuxedo cat, who's name was Bum (II since my dad had the original Bum when he was growing up), and I absolutly loved him! I have fond memories of carrying him around with my arms up under his belly, his front legs hanging to my right and his back legs hanging to my left. I still remember being told about his death. Since that Bum left this world, I think my entire family knew that one day I would have my own Bum cat, and we brought him home almost two weeks ago. He really does love to sprawl out...I am not sure I have ever seen him curl up in a tight ball to sleep.

Fun with Felt

I can't wait for the PTI blog hop on the 25th to showcase some felt projects, but as I was inspired by Ashley Newell's ribbon technique during the Senior Design Teams blog hop earlier this month, I was also inspired by Betsy Veldman's card that she showcased. You can check out her card here. I really loved the card design and her use of ribbon!! So I gave it a go with some new felt I ordered from Felt on the Fly (great stuff and 100% wool so it die cuts like butter)!! Here's what I came up with because I couldn't wait to share...

I used the new Simply Chartreuce hybrid ink, which to be honest I wasn't too sure of, but after getting my box of new PTI goodies and having a chance to play...I LOVE it! Such a great addition!! I also used some of the new Simply Chartreuce buttons! It's all paired with Hibiscus Burst Ink and Stitched Ribbon. I can't wait to get my hands on the Simply Chartreuce cardstock!!

Have a great day and if you a LOST fan like me...enjoy the finale tonight!!

Inspired

When the Papertrey Ink Senior Design Team showcased ribbon techniques this past May 1st, I was really inspired by the technique that Ashley Newell (guest designer) showcased (you can see her creation here)! I had never seen this done before and just had to give it a try!! So here's what I came up with...

I just love how this one turned out! I used so of the fabulous Girl's Paperie patterned paper, the new FIllable Frames #4 die and stamp, with a Fillable Frames #2 sentiment, a few Lemon Tart buttons, and some cabbage rose ribbon from MemrieMare's etsy shop (fabulous stuff you should check out)! Such a bright and fun Thank You card...and we can never have enough of these on hand!!

Cosmo Cricket and Unity Stamp Co.

If you haven't heard, Cosmo Cricket and Unity Stamp Co joined forces. Unity Stamp Co now has stamps to go along with Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety and Material Girl, and you can check them out here. I picked up one of the Material Girl sets and love it! I decided to break out the stamp set and my 6x6 pad to create a fun little card today.

Have a great weekend!!

Reader's Choice Color Challenge

I had a really fun time making the card for this challenge over at Kristina Werner's blog. You can check out the challenge here. There are lots of great submissions! Here's the card that I made:

I was really inspired by a technique that Jennifer McGuire showed over at the CK blog. She did a great technique with water color paper, resist embossing, distress inks, and pearlized water...so I decided to give it a try for this card. Love how it turned out. Nice and bright! Did some embossing on vellum and wrapped that around the main image. Used my trusty Martha Stewart 3 butterfly punch for added interest (these were punched out of watercolor paper that I inked up with distress ink and misted with the pearlized water too). Here's a closer look:

My hydrangeas are finally blooming and I just had to share them here. I have taken a few pictures the last few days as they have started to open up. Here's a couple shots of the same bloom as it's opened. I decided that these would be perfect to submit for Kristina Werner's color inspiration challange part #1 which can be found here. Happy Mother's Day

Just wanted to wish all the mother's out there in blog land a Happy Mother's Day! I am not a mom, unless you agree with me that I am a mom to my four legged furry kids. They keep me busy, love me unconditionally as I do them, and they depend on me to survive. I wanted to share the cards I made for my mom and mother-in-law. They are exactly the same which works since my mom lives in NY and my mother-in-law lives here in sunny Florida. I used my MOM stamp set from the Stampin Up! occasions mini catalog that was retired at the end of April, colored with some colored pencils, and used some lavender moon dot ribbon and dottie biscotti paper from Papertrey Ink.

smiles

So I decided to play with my new Papillion stamp again. This time I made a simple card. I used some vintage book print and die cut it with my PTI medium scallop border, dug out my coluzzle to cut the oval, and used some distress ink around the saying to separate it from the background. Not quite sure the sentiment goes with this, but this stamp makes me smile, even if I am finding it difficult to use.

a little bit funky

This card is really a little bit funky. I didn't have a plan at all when I made it, I just wanted to try out a new stamp. I stamped it onto white tissue paper then inked it up with distress ink. The flower on the bottom is plain canvas rolled and glued down, then painted with some Making Memories paint. I am still not too sure of this one. It's really out of the box for me and not really my style. I am really not sure how this one came together!
